This fall's hiking adventures began in the best way possible...a hike with my sisters, parents, nieces and youngest nephew. On Labor Day, to start the season off right, we went to Shenandoah River State Park to explore their trails and have a picnic lunch. This is a beautiful and often overlooked park being so close to the Shenandoah National Park. The two hikes we took were lovely and just the right length for little legs - except for the littlest that had to be carried by the longest. The find of the day was the campground with 10 fabulous campsites, several of which were on the bank of the river. We all agreed that we had to come back and give those a try. I've told Pam that since Ryan, the youngest, will be two and three quarters in the spring, it's time to GET OUT THERE!
