CCT - Vale Road to Oakmar (10/18/08)

There's a wonderful new trail that runs through Fairfax County called the Cross County Trail. It's a grassroots effort that has successfully connected 40 miles of trails from one end of the county to the other. See http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/cct for more info. As it turns out, it goes right through Oakton, not far from my parents' house. So, Mom, Jenny and I set out on a glorious morning in October to check out a section from Vale Rd to Oakmar (about 4 miles).

It was a wonderful hike on a beautiful trail, with great company...



And a little reward at the end! :)

We'll be back again soon to try another section of the CCT!
